Lens Shading Calibration and Correction

It is recommended that a Lens Shading Calibration procedure be done for any Nano-10G/Lens combination. Calibration eliminates any lens vignetting in the image corners or any other shading differences across the image field. Calibration will allow using a lens with a slightly smaller image circle that does not quite evenly expose the whole sensor.

CamExpert allows quick calibration by the user. The Lens Shading Correction features can also be accessed by the user designed application. The feature descriptions are shown below and after calibration the data should be saved in a user set.

Lens Shading Correction Calibration Bright

Performs a bright calibration for lens shading correction. This calibration requires acquisition of a bright, flat, featureless target object that does not saturate the sensor (70% saturation is recommended, around180 DN). You may defocus a bit the image to eliminate as much variation as possible. Place the object at the working distance, take a snap and use the CamExpert Statistics function and view the histogram to verify saturation.

To perform a lens shading correction calibration bright

  1. Set the Lens Shading Correction Mode to Calibration.

  2. Select the current active set to use.

  3. Reset the coefficients.

  4. Put the target object in front of the camera.

  5. Press next to Lens Shading Correction Calibration Bright.

  6. Save the calibration.

  7. Set the Lens Shading Correction Mode to Active.
